Cute Face Butter Cookies

Cute and playful on the outside, these character cookies may look tiny, but each one measures around 9 cm long — making them a fun and eye-catching treat for dessert tables, gifts, or cozy baking days at home.

Ingredients

  • 120 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 55 g powdered sugar
  • 45 g beaten egg, room temperature
  • 195 g cake flour or low-protein flour
  • 25 g almond flour
  • 15 g milk powder
  • 2 g cocoa powder (for the darker dough portion)
  • Egg yolk, for brushing details


Instructions



1. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy.

2. Gradually pour in the egg mixture, adding a little at a time while mixing well after each addition.

3. Add the cake flour, almond flour, and milk powder, then stir until a soft dough forms.



4. Separate about 80 g of dough and knead in the 2g cocoa powder to create the chocolate-colored dough.

5. Roll out the plain dough to about 5 cm thick and the cocoa dough to about 3 cm thick. Chill both doughs in the refrigerator until firm enough to shape.

6. Use round cutters or piping tips in different sizes to create fun face designs. Add features like hair, ears, noses, and cheeks, then lightly brush the details with egg yolk.




7. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Bake on the center rack using top-and-bottom heat for approximately 28 minutes.

8. After about 10 minutes of baking, loosely cover the cookies with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning.





Once the cookies have completely cooled, wrap them individually in clear plastic packaging for an extra cute and polished presentation.
